Choices For Life

A Big Step

An adorable 7 year old girl with Aspergers has struggled with intense fear of trying new things since she was first placed in a Choices for Life foster home.  Every time the family goes to the lake she watches as the other children climb high onto the rocks to jump down into a lagoon.  You can see the desire in her eyes to join the others but she has been paralyzed by her fear, being content to hop down from a much lower rock.  Last week this little girl climbed up with the other children and jumped without fear or worry into the lake from the much higher rocks.  Her foster parents beamed with pride and so did the child.  They clapped and cheered and celebrated her success with their friends and family.  They knew what a big step this was for her and were grateful that they were able to be there for her in her moment of triumph.
